2nd Solutions was founded in 2005 to extend the commercial life of electronic devices by capturing their residual value on the secondary market.
It was no accident that we opened for business just as the dynamics surrounding end-of-life cycle technology were changing. With companies starting to seriously deal with technology refresh, the looming issue of environmental impact—coupled with a growing demand by organizations for help in offsetting the cost of next generation purchases—presented a clear window of opportunity for companies just like 2nd Solutions.
Unlike many of our competitors, 2nd Solutions' sole focus is our commitment to purchase all mobile, wireless and computer technology regardless of condition.
It has always been our belief that by building a global network consisting of hundreds of wholesalers, retailers and other commercial interests, we could create a trusted distribution network for used devices—thereby sharing the payback with the companies whose technology we obtained, refurbished and resold. And that is exactly what has transpired.
Our processes are designed to ensure that securing and destroying proprietary data is addressed in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards.
With regulatory pressure and the risk of litigation impacting both the issues of data security and waste disposal, clients count of 2nd Solutions. Although some clients perform certain levels of data "scrubbing" in-house, all devices that arrive at our warehouses are subjected to further testing for data exposure. This helps ensure that no proprietary information ever leaves our facilities.
2nd Solutions also makes certain that whatever leaves our facilities is never destined for landfills.
In 2007, American families and businesses discarded 2.25 million tons of electronics equipment—of which slightly more than 80% ended up in landfills.
